About John

Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist John Francis hails from central Minnesota, where he learned to play piano and write songs at an early age.  His early influences include Elton John, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Cat Stevens, Queen, and Electric Light Orchestra.  Over time, John developed a style that incorporates elements of folk, blues, jazz, and bluegrass, with a gothic undertone.

He has been regularly praised for the expressiveness and beauty of his voice.  His songs have been compared to those of Elliot Smith.  He has performed his original songs and covers in local venues around Westchester County and the greater New York City and Tri-State area.

He is currently beginning work on an album, and preparing for a full two-hour show at the Cause Café in Yorktown Heights, to take place in October 2026.  You can hear some of his songs on his Soundcloud page, and and see him perform on his YouTube channel.

You Wear the Sun

An autumn love song, featuring acoustic and lap steel guitar.

Walk Away

An acoustic recording of a breakup song that was originally conceived as a synth-pop number. The flute I play in this recording is a Chinese Xiao, an end-blown bamboo flute.
